Our Story

In 2008 I had the immense good fortune of joining an antenatal class full of of women and their partners who unbeknownst to me, were going to become some of the most wonderful friends I could have wished for.

Since that time we have shared our successes, failures, good days, bad days and every mothering hurdle imaginable. One thing that many of us had in common was that we understood the value breastfeeding and... the also challenges! Wasn't this very natural process of feeding our babies supposed to be simple? Turns out that it wasn't as easy as we expected it to be. All that practice with dolls in the antenatal class just wasn't cutting it.

Tired, depleted, struggling with no sleep and the new responsibilities of being a mum, it was hard to remain well nourished and relaxed. Some of us found it hard to feed, others didn't have enough milk, mastitis was rearing its ugly head and many of our bubs were unsettled.

It became abundantly clear that new mums needed some help. It was time to explore the ancient wisdom of our ancestors. How did they do it without baby formula being available from the local supermarket? The answer was in their nutrition. They had been taught the foods that would support their replenishment, milk production and their babies.

And so............ The Mummy Shake was born.
